Large dogs take up floor space, and standard crates leave that room empty above the wire. We built this wide rustic brown console with an open storage shelf above the kennel and hanging hooks along the side. The steel frame handles daily household use while the wooden top holds lamps, books, or bowls.
We build the kennel walls from thick metal tubing set into a wooden frame, backed by a reinforced bottom beam. It gives large dogs a solid den without lightweight wire panels bending out of shape.
Two doors let you decide how the piece sits against your wall. Use the wide front door for everyday access, and mount the side door on the left or right depending on where your couch sits.
The open shelf above the crate keeps treat jars, food bins, and grooming tools off your side tables. Metal hooks along the frame hold daily leashes and collars right where you leash up.
Adjustable leveling feet steady the crate on older wood floors. Raising the base off the floor gives robot vacuums enough clearance to sweep underneath so you do not have to drag a heavy cabinet.
