Most wire crates announce themselves the moment you walk into the room. We put clear acrylic panels on this one and finished the exterior like an oak console table. The dog can see the household moving around, and the wide top holds a table lamp, books, and a coaster.
Instead of vertical iron wire, the sides use clear acrylic with round air openings. The dog gets an open view of the room. You will notice nose smudges on the inside, but they wipe off with a cloth.
The wooden top panel runs the full length of the frame. It sits flat against the living room wall, wide enough to work as a side sideboard or an accent table beside an armchair.
We include a fitted fabric cushion in the carton for the base panel. It lifts right out through the front opening when it needs a wash, leaving the wood bottom clear for vacuuming.
The front door hangs on metal hardware within a square frame. It swings out fully so a big dog can walk inside without catching shoulders on the latch assembly during ordinary crate training.
