Two crates along one living room wall take over the floor plan quickly. We built this wide piece in dark gray to house two dogs side by side while returning the top surface for lamps, books, or a television. It spans a broad wall and anchors the room like a low sideboard.
Slide the middle panel into place so two dogs have their own quarters and separate front doors. Take the divider out when one dog needs the full length as one open run.
The wide wooden top runs the full length of both dens. It holds table lamps, framed prints, or media gear so the wall acts as ordinary living room furniture rather than an animal corner.
Sturdy feet lift the bottom frame off the rug. The open space underneath lets air move beneath the floor panels and allows a robot vacuum to pass through without bumping the base.
Each dog gets an independent door with its own latch. You can let one dog out for a walk while the other stays settled inside, without disturbing both sides at the same time.
