Three numbers

Ours is the width of the stand, printed in the name. Yours are the width and depth of the printer, taken with the paper trays open, not closed.

A printer grows several inches the moment it starts working. A stand fitted to the closed footprint puts that growth over the edge, and the paper tray learns to live half open.

Two width families

The stands here fall into two groups. Around 24 inches wide for desk-side printers, and 32.3 inches for wide-format machines or for anyone who wants the top to moonlight as a side table.

Between sizes, take the wider one. A printer with margin on both sides is easier to load, and the spare inches hold the paper ream that otherwise lives on the floor.

The shelf below does the filing

Depending on the piece, the space under the top is a drawer, a fabric bin or a file holder. Ink, paper and the cable bag want to live where the printer lives.

That is the quiet half of the job. The stand lifts the printer a little and ends the drawer-across-the-room walk entirely.

Power where the records play
