When a strong dog works loose on wire cages, the crate often ends up exiled to the garage. We built this one out of thick steel stock with a rustic brown furniture surface on top. It gives your dog an indoor spot while the flat top holds a lamp, books, or a basket of leashes.
Thick square tubing forms the walls and doors. We welded reinforced plates around the perimeter and ran crossbars beneath the base to support the floor when a heavy dog steps inside.
The front door secures with two separate slide bolts on the steel frame. An extra drop-down window on the side panel lets you slide bowls inside without swinging the main door wide open.
Four rolling casters sit under the frame so you can pull the piece away from baseboards to vacuum behind it. Push down the caster locks to keep the crate planted on bare floors.
The plastic base tray slides straight out from the bottom slot for quick wipe-downs. On the front door frame, a small steel plate holder takes a card insert for your dog name.
