A dog that bends light wire needs heavy steel, but that steel does not have to live out in the garage. We build this kennel with thick tubing and solid wood panels so it sits against the wall as a wide console. You get the strength of an iron build with a usable tabletop.
We build the frame and bars from thick-gauge steel tubing. The iron construction handles daily crate routines for strong dogs that lean hard into wire, while the wooden panels anchor the piece inside the room.
A strong dog learns how single latches shift under pressure. We put multiple slide bolts on the front and side doors, giving you two points of contact to secure each panel before you leave the room.
The secondary door bolts onto either the left or the right side during assembly. You can set the entry to match your hallway layout, your sofa placement, or whatever corner of the living room you have open.
The bottom tray pulls straight out from the base for quick cleanups. You can wipe away dirt, hair, or stray kibble without having to reach through the front door or move the heavy frame away from the wall.
