A long living room wall can hold one large sideboard or two separate crates. We built this double unit in dark gray so two dogs have separate dens under one broad wooden surface. Remove the center panel and one dog gets the whole span.
Keep the panel in the middle so two dogs have their own space and their own front entrance. Pull it out when one dog needs room to stretch across the entire base.
The front doors handle daily entry. You can bolt the extra side door to either the left or right end panel, depending on which wall the crate sits against.
The feet lift the wooden bottom panel off the floorboards. That gap lets an automated robotic vacuum slide underneath without anyone having to drag the furniture away from the wall.
The broad top carries table lamps, framed pictures, or a television set. It functions as ordinary living room furniture while the dogs sleep below.
