Some dogs bend wire panels out of shape before the second week is done. We built this wide black kennel with welded steel tubing and two separate doors so it stays rigid in the room, while the flat top takes a lamp, books, and the leash basket.
The frame uses thick steel bars joined with solid welds. It gives a strong dog an indoor spot that will not wobble against a living room wall, without needing a secondary cage out in the garage.
We put double latches on the doors to hold the panels tight against the frame. Having access from the front and the side lets you set the wide piece against long walls or tucked into corners.
The bottom pan pulls straight out across the floor when you need to wipe up hair or wash out the base. You do not have to crawl inside with a rag to clean out the corners.
Because steel panels add up to a heavy piece of furniture, we mounted the base on rolling casters. Press the brake tabs down with your foot to keep the kennel planted where you set it.
